BORON INDICATOR TEST KIT
This kit is used to determine if wood has been treated with boron. It is a simple, two-solution
spray application. (Approximately 3.5 vol ounces of each solution) This kit will show only the presence of boron
on the wood sampled. It will not indicate levels of boron concentration. A long-lasting purple stain will show
wherever the test solution is applied.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Boron Indicator Test Solution should be spray-applied to a small area on an unsealed, clean, dry wood
surface to indicate the presence of boron. Spray to wetness, but not to run off. Allow solution to dry for 3-5 minutes,
then apply Indicator Buffer Solution to wetness, but not to run off. Monitor color development up to 5 minutes.
A dark red color indicates the presence of boron.
This test is used only to show the presence of boron on the wood sampled. More advanced test procedures are
suggested if specific levels of boron concentration are required.
NOTE: The Indicator Test Solution will dry to a long-lasting purple stain. Do not apply the solution
to wood or other surface areas where this stain could be considered unsightly.
PRECAUTION:
