JECTA Diffusible Boracide

JECTA Diffusible Boracide is a highly concentrated form of borax and boric acid in a patented carrier system that facilitates penetration into wood. Although originally designed for injection into wood members, JECTA can also be used to topically treat posts, poles, and pilings which are to be inserted into the ground or cement. Since JECTA is water soluble, it will be important to protect the treated zone from direct contact with damp soil or cement after treatment.

APPLICATION STEPS:
Unlike other borate-based treatments, it will not be necessary to remove existing water repellent coatings such as creosote, paint, or oil-based preservatives prior to applying JECTA. Determine length of the post or pole that will be imbedded below grade. Mark the area of the post or pole which will be below grade. Pour some JECTA into a wide mouth container. Using a stiff paintbrush, brush a heavy coating of JECTA onto the surface of the post or pole. Make sure to force product into any cracks or checks. Treat only that part of the post or pole which will be below ground or covered with cement. Wrap the treated zone with plastic film. Be sure to cover the base. The objective is to provide a waterproof barrier around the section of wood that will be below ground or covered with cement.
NOTE: When treating piers and pilings over 12" by 12" or 14" in diameter, supplement surface application of JECTA with injection into pre-drilled holes using the instructions on the JECTA label.
