EXTREN

EXTREN® is a proprietary combination of fiberglass reinforcements and thermosetting polyester or vinyl ester resin systems.

All EXTREN® rods have a surface veil to protect against glass fibers penetrating the resin surface in service and to increase corrosion and UV resistance.

The rods are manufactured utilizing an isophthalic polyester resin system.
Color: Pale Olive Green

Features and Benefits:

  • Corrosion Resistant

  • Non-Conductive Thermally and Electrically

  • Non-Magnetic Electromagnetic Transparency

  • Lightweight

  • High Strength

  • Dimensional Stability

  • Low Maintenance

EXTREN® The rods can be sawed, drilled, routed and turned on a lathe or other machine tool. Carbide or diamond-tipped saw blades and tool bits are recommended for faster speeds and longer tool life. Cut edges should always be sealed. EXTREN® cannot be bent, rolled or pressed, as can steel.

WARNING . . . . WARNING

Fiberglass reinforced thermoset plastic composites are a nonhomogeneous material (i.e., their strengths and behavior are dependent upon the design of the composite and reinforcement). Other fiberglass structural shapes with a similar exterior appearance to EXTREN® shapes are likely not equal in any other way, including glass content, glass placement, glass type, wet-out, resin mixture, or pull speed. Be sure to insist on EXTREN® products.
